WAKANOURA
Wakanoura is the very historical place in Wakayama, Japan. In Nara Period, Emperor Shomu (701~756) visited Wakanoura and was impressed by the beautiful scenery there. Since then Wakanoura has been one of the most famous place for sightseeing in Japan. However in late years there are not many visitors there. One big reason is Onsen spa booming in Japan. In Wakanoura there is no Onsen. So people looked for another place that has Onsen. Then many small hotels were bankrupted. In addition to that bubble economy burst was happened. Then Wakanoura became very deserted place. However it still retains something magical, that I aspired to capture with my camera. There is still an aroma to the place, that was felt by 8th century emperor, I believe.
